Artist Statement

I paint landscapes from my imagination.  I paint a feeling that is conjured from the many skies and clouds that I often chance upon in my travels. The contrast within the layers upon another forms the mesmerising beauty that is in continual motion and reformation, reminding me that life is never constant. We are like a camera-of-life that captures the moving stills and evolving stories in front of us. As its fades off from the corner of our eyes, a new one emerges. We participate, indulge and absorb as much. Filter out. And keep what is important to us.

My new body of work is titled ‘Hope In Chaos’.

The 5ft x 6ft oil on canvas brings to life the feeling of certain cocooning calmness and clarity about life during everyday pandemonium as to balance out the noise knowing, that too shall pass. The beauty in celebrating strength and wisdom to overcome what a day throws at you and how to integrate the symphony of chaos into colours and brush strokes to calm the soul brings me back to being the camera-of-life, where we take in what we want and throw out what we don’t. And keeping just what’s left. Beauty in the moment.
