Gary Read is a Kuala Lumpur-based Tonalist landscape artist.
An oil painter, Gary uses a wet-dry brush technique to create atmospheric contemporary landscape works. His pieces capture the mood that lies in the clouds and marshlands, juxtaposed with the topography of trees.
Gary’s interest in art began early in his life. Having studied Graphic Design and Fine Art, Gary found inspiration from other Tonalist Masters and from his travels. In 2010, he had his first group exhibition entitled “Chronicles” at the KL Performing Arts Centre.
Aside from art, Gary also enjoys street photography, anything having to do with Single Malt culture, and a bad game of golf! He currently resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with his wife Larraine and their pet dog, Venus.
